  If you care about your child’s education and social life do not send them here! De La Salle is a mediocre private school who’s main focus is its athletics and so called “diversity” which is really just a bunch of underprivileged kids from ghetto who are good for their sports teams. Out of all the other catholic schools in New Orleans their ACT and SAT scores are the lowest and at least 30% of the senior class doesn’t even go to college. The school also barely has any extra curricular activities and clubs and the ones they do have aren’t any good and are just ridiculous like Disney club for example, I mean c’mon Disney club really? This schools main goal is a quick and easy cash grab. It’s not worth your money! Horrible school! I hate it here so much and can not wait to transfer!

  I am an alumnus and feel the school has changed a lot the school now has half the students it did when I went there, it is co ed now, there are no longer any brothers at the school. The faculty members that were there when I was are either retired or are now deceased. I went there not long ago and the property just did not look the same as it did when I went there, the inside looked run down. The only thing that I could actually say was an add on was the baseball batting facility that was added on, and they are putting the class pictures up in the hallway that is the only thing that was an improvement in the place. I would not send my kid there for nothing under the sun just not worth it for the money that you spend on educating your child, there are much better choices too pick from.

  The academics are very basic. Many of the classes have football coaches teaching from a textbook. Some of the teachers are underqualified to teach and serve more like babysitters and disciplinarians. The school primarily focuses on athletics while lagging behind in academics. Despite their many faults, they have a very proficient band that performs in Mardi Gras parades and goes on a trip every year. They also have many athletic teams that do well city-wide. However, the food is unhealthy and expensive. Also, the school engages in "random drug testing" in which they find students and ask them to then snitch on their fellow peers. They also have a reputation of interfering in kid's social lives and invading their privacy by going through their phones and bags. They also profile you based on your friend group and are more likely to drug test you if you have the wrong friends. Prior to De La Salle, I had never encountered illegal substances and had straight As. After, I had encountered many who were alcoholics, dealers, and even some addicts. For any prospective parents or students, De La Salle is a mediocre private school that's main goal is cash grab. They offer exorbitant tuition for the same quality, if not worse in a local public school.

  It absolutely changed my childs life for the better. Everyone cares. The whole school including faculty, staff, teachers, students & coaches strives to bring out the best in each other.
