::Cooper's certainly is not what it once was years ago. My mom and I who have not lived in Newark in over 20 plus years was feeling a little nostalgic remembering those famous Cooper sandwiches with the delicious pastrami piled high on a rye bread perfect amount of seasoning with the Russian dressing and coleslaw. Oh my goodness it used to be so good. The standard and quality of this establishment has gone down tremendously. When we pulled up to the store there crowds of people loitering outside. My mother decided to stay in the car while my father and I went inside this dark little hole in the wall. We stood in line and waited almost 20 to 30 minutes for our sandwiches which was ridiculous since there was only two other people in front of me and three people working behind the counter. My sandwich was not good at all. It was unseasoned, wet which made the bread soggy and difficult to hold together even the Russian dressing and coleslaw was not good. Besides the food not being good be warned that if you go here you will be risking your life. Outside a man beat a woman savagely causing her face to bleeding as police drove by and did nothing. We witnessed drug transactions take place outside and a man came inside putting something down his pants. The lady that's appears to be management allowed the same person to come behind the counter and get alcohol out the cooler. Mind you he just came in off the street . We knew it was time to get out of there. I don't know what's happening to this city. It has really gone down.

::Man I grew up on Coopers when times were tight my mother would buy two Coopers subs, a small loaf of wonder bread and kool-aid and there was ENOUGH MEAT to feed a family of 6, #NOWTHATSZWHATZSUP

::My father, Bill Yelverton, would talk often about Mr. Cooper and his accomplishments. Cooper's corned beef is famous, I worked in Elizabeth and if I mentioned to anyone about a corned beef sandwich they automatically would call Cooper's. I have introduced Cooper's corned beef and/or pastrami sandwich to my son. 3 generations of loving eating a Cooper's sandwich

::Coopers is a place to get a sandwich that'll be worth the trip and the money Coopers is not fancy but the places with the best food aren't. 👍👍👍

::Quality has gone down a bit but still delicious. The should at least splurge on good pickles and a pickle barrel. No safe parking or walking options
