It’s really nice having to call multiple times with no response, then when they do respond the gentleman on the other side yells as a form of communication. Edit: They have a rather quick email response in which they are very helpful.

While I have not yet had the honor to visit the Consulate of Italy in Detroit in person, I am already impressed by the lack of professionalism displayed by their office. For an office that already only takes phone calls three hours a day, four days a week, the Italian Consulate in Detroit should really consider further lowering their operating hours to make sure that at least one phone call is picked every hour. I have tried consistently over the past week to contact the office, yet not a single live person answered me. Emails are useless, of course, so don't even try.

I went to Consulate of Italy in Detroit last Wednesday to apply for a Schengen Visa. My appointment was first thing in the morning. The officers were on time and my visit went very quickly, probably in less than 20 minutes (including bio-metrics taking). I was nicely asked to provide some additional private accommodations paperwork over email and received a confirmation that they got it. Today (following Monday) I received my passport in mail with a Schengen visa. This was the quickest travel document related service that I have experienced so far. Additionally, I sent a question email before my appointment and received a timely answer.

Excellent experience. I went to Detroit - Italian embassy for tourist visa this month. Consulate officer were quick and it took hardly 20 minutes to complete the whole visa process. Consulate officer - lady who helped me was really nice and friendly. I have been sending them emails on my questions on visa process before my visit and every time I got quick responses with all required details. I am impressed their prompt responses. Thank you :)

We had a very positive experience during our visit. The staff is very courteous and punctual. We were in and out in 30 minutes or less. They are also very prompt in responding to email queries as well.
