My grandfather was in the care of Clove Lakes for the last couple years of his life. My entire family and I cannot thank the staff enough for the love and support he received while with them. Any time we would visit his room was always tidy, he was cleaned and dressed properly, and he was in good spirits. He loved to tell us stories about the friends he had made there or why we couldn't visit with him too long because he had an activity or party to attend. (The activities/parties he was going to were set up at Clove Lakes, by the staff) Knowing he genuinely was enjoying himself is something we were worried about in the beginning because Grandpa had issues in the past with accepting any help. If you have a loved one that requires round the clock attention or assistance please do not hesitate to send them here!

My mom spent almost two months at Clove Lakes after surgery to repair a broken hip due to a fall. The admission process from the hospital was seamless even though I was unable to be there at the time because of work. My mother's room was clean upon arrival and was kept that way throughout. I visited during meals several times and the menu was varied and the food tray was set up nicely. My mom is a picky eater but she ate everything brought with few exceptions. Staff brought sandwiches and snacks in the evenings which was a pleasant surprise. Physical and occupational therapy began immediately and my mother seemed stronger and was walking with a walker with noticeable improvement after the first week. The social services department and the SS Director Megan was available and always willing to help. The direct care staff (nursing and support) was wonderful and though some staff members took more initiative than others all staff members were responsive when approached for assistance. I spent Christmas and New Years Eve at Clove Lakes and was so grateful to recreation and the employees who put together special events to make the holiday season meaningful and special for residents and their families. A special acknowledgement for the administrator Ms. L. Senk who demonstrates care for all the residents, who knows every aspect of every job in the facility, and who knows how to problem solve. I have witnessed her go above and beyond to make herself available to all families if the need arises. My mother is 81 years old, has emphysema, aortic stenosis, osteoporosis and dementia. Her overall physical condition had been declining prior to the fall and we were trying to address her health issues one by one while she was at home. Clove Lakes improved her baseline and with follow up care arranged by Heather, the discharge social worker, we will pick up where they left off. A special shout out (in alphabetical order) to Alana, Barbara, Jackie, Louise, Melissa and Natalya!

My mom was at Clove Lake for the last 2 months of her life. Although some of the rooms need updating, the quality of care was outstanding. My father was in another home on Staten Island that was rated higher and we had nothing but problems with the care there. At Clove Lake the staff was attentive and caring. You can't teach someone to care, they either have it or they don't and Clove Lake seems to nourish that type of culture. One additional nice thing is that it is right off the highway, so it makes visiting someone there that much easier (especially if you do not live on the island. I highly recommend this facility if you are looking for one on Staten Island.
