Let me start by saying I live by the words "if you don't have anything nice to say, your better off saying nothing at all.." but that being said, sometimes, as in the case, if it's for the greater good then I feel we do have an obligation to speak out on terrible service (understatement of the century.) So first of all I searched for "24 hour laundry mat near me" via Google, because I'm fairly new to Staten island so I don't have a go to spot yet for when you've had a crazy few weeks (sister's gotten married lol) and realize at 9pm that you do not have any clean towels to wash yourself with for the morning. So I come across this place, with a clear picture of it that anyone can see says "open 24 hours" so naturally I click directions and my navigation has me and my fiance on our way. So, now we get there aprox. Shortly after 11pm and the place is like a deserted island, I was very skeptical walking in but we had just drove all the way there and what the hell it's ONE bag of laundry. Now upon entering there's a couple sitting on their phones by the biggest machine at the front door, they were playing cards apparently (from what I hear them saying to each other loudly) so obviously I did not think they ran this establishment but two steps past them and I hear the words "I'm closing at one.." very abruptly come out of the woman's mouth. Ok, unprofessional to say the least, but I've been tired on a dead night at work so I'm empathetic. I explain that I have one bag I will put it in the largest machine and then wash it in two separate dryers (paying more then I need too) that way I can be done and out of there for her desired closing time of 1am. Machine starts and the time pre set is 34 minutes + 2 minutes after that I didn't know about until it got down to the last spin, so I literally stood there and like speed lightning had my things out the washer and into the two driers which I set for aprox 40 mins each, as I was doing heavy towels and some bedding which can take longer to dry. I did the math and I explained that our laundry would be stopping at 1:04 am and that we would not be staying too fold I would throw it in the bag and go home to gold so they could close, I got zero response , but they seemed pretty into their game so I walked outside with my fiance and got in the car. To kill some time we went and grabbed late night shakes a few minutes away and then came back to the back entrance parking lot at 12:55am.. the back entrance was locked so we assumed maybe they just locked that part up so we got out and walked around the block and to our detriment discovered the front of the building was locked too and when I finally looked at the time it was only 1:02am!!! Horrified and sure that they had to be inside because lights were on and you could actually see and hear our clothes still going, my fiance and I started calling the number on the outside of the establishment with no success. So now I wasted time traveling in the middle of the night, extra money to speed up a process so they could close earlier then usual , and now I have to HOPE I can recover my belongings and that will now cost me more time and money , not to mention the stress and little factor that I don't have a towel for my fiance or I to shower for the day. This is an absolute nightmare of a place and I would say only take yourself their in rare emergencies and even then make sure you stand there and watch that machine like a hawk, because shady doesn't begin to describe such an establishment.. still waiting for this situation to be "fixed" for lack of a better word. They open at 7am according to their business hours I found on a random Google site , which given did say they would close at 1, but then you shouldn't present yourself as a 24hour establishment honestly. To no surprise I have been calling, my fiance has been calling from work, we have left several voicemails since they have opened and no answers.. learn from our mistake, that's all I can advise.
