  Despite a few small glitches during move in, we have been very happy with our first month at Cleveland House. We have been interacting most frequently with Mary, Tierra, and Thomas, who are always smiling, ready to help, and ready to answer questions.

  I would not recommend living here due to the "concession clauses" in Equity's leases, something that Equity is being sued for in DC courts. By signing a lease with a concession clause, you unwittingly void your rent control rights and allow your annual rent to be increased above the legal rent control limits. Read more about this in the Washington City Paper articles about Equity Residential. That said, the front desk staff (Angela, Barry, Michelle, etc) are wonderful. They're very kind, courteous, and make the Cleveland House feel more like a community than just an apartment building.

  My wife and I have had a mixed experience at Cleveland House, but I cannot justify giving anything less than 5 stars, and that's largely because of the care and professionalism exhibited by the manager, Tierra Brown. Twice so far there has been a miscommunication from the leasing office which would have led to us having to pay more money than we had been led to believe we would owe. In each case, all I had to do was call the office and Tierra made it right immediately, making my life and my wife's life much easier in each case. We also had an issue with our floor breaking apart in one section of our living room, which happened twice, due to a leaking pipe in the wall which went undiscovered for a couple of months. Normally, this would lead me to take off a couple of stars from the rating, since this is a pretty big maintenance issue and it shouldn't happen twice in 6 weeks right after you move in. However, Tierra handled it beautifully, making sure that repairs happened quickly (once she heard of the problem) and working with my wife and me to help make up for the time and inconvenience involved in the whole process. Other than the thing with the floor, every maintenance request I've ever submitted has been addressed thoroughly within 24 hours--usually much, much faster than that. The front desk staff has always been completely professional and friendly. In other words, like any apartment building, there have been issues, but I have no complaints that have not been promptly addressed in a satisfactory and professional manner. Every issue that could have turned into a horror story about a bad landlord has had a happy ending. Thanks, Tierra and Cleveland House! EDIT: Oh, and the location is fantastic! One of my wife's biggest problems was the frequency of police sirens, but it's not what you think: Cleveland House is down the street from a big hotel and on the edge of DC's biggest neighborhood for embassies and ambassadors' residences. Police are everywhere, all the time, escorting dignitaries to events at the hotel or patrolling. And any time there's the slightest report of a crime anywhere within miles, police swarm the area because they want to prevent an international incident. This is probably the safest neighborhood this side of the Maryland suburbs.

  Quick maintenance, clean and very pleasant staff. Barry at the front desk always goes above and beyond. He is helpful and friendly. He really cares about the tentants in the building and makes Cleveland House a welcoming place.

  I absolutely loved living at The Cleveland House!! Great location, safe and beautiful neighborhood. Dog friendly which was a huge plus for me and my pup. The staff is wonderful and very attentive. Maintenance requests are answered and addressed very quickly. It really feels like a little community. Barry is THE MAN. Gym and laundry facilities, street parking for guests (and guest parking passes for the garage available), concierge, rooftop. If you're looking for a brand new, fancy building you'll find other places in DC but if you're looking for a nice, clean building, reasonable pricing, great location with great staff and no problems this is a solid place to check out. My favorite apartment building I lived in when I lived in DC
