So the new addition of the playground and water fountains make this an awesome summer time destination to take the live kids to get wet and spend a few hours outside. However! This is still downtown ABQ so just be cautious and aware of your surroundings because unfortunately there are still those deviants to say the least wondering around spoiling what could be a really family friendly place.

My husband and I really enjoyed going to Civic Park especially after the water park was built this year of 2018. It's a fun day event for hanging out with friends, family, to see or join events or just let the family cool off. The only bad thing about the park are the constant having to keep your stuff near you at all times as theft becomes an issue. Just for that, solution solved and we still had a great time at Civic Park. Picnic tables are available as are the umbrella's for shade, basketball court for those who want to play, of course the water park for people who want to cool off, ping pong tables which paddle with balls are obtained at the Civic Center, weekend events and much more.

I would use caution letting ur children go barefoot in the fountains and be carefu with pets in the grass. I've been coming to the park 10 years, seen criminals and homless shooting up drugs, needles and trash laying on the ground. Good luck getting a bench in the shade...you might wake someone up and their bags and belongings taken up the space. Forget about security. .

Civic Plaza is awesome now with the Prickly Pear Playground and the great new Fountains. It is much more friendly with the elegant green strip beside the new installations and the addition of the great food carts. It is more of a gathering place. Great work Albuquerque!!!!

Lots of room. Modern feel. Not easy to just pass by without looking around, a place surrounded by structures and creativity that one has to take a moment or two to absorb. Underground parking directly underneath is generally free after regular work hours. Attended several functions here, including the December Angel Tree lighting.
