  This reviews service at HSBC following its late 2020/early 2021 decision to close most of its U.S. retail branches. Service has deteriorated tremendously, many experienced personnel have departed and fees have increased. This is extremely sad to see, as service had been very strong previously. As of late 2021, HSBC has announced that it is merging with Citizens Bank. I hope that service improves for those HSBC patrons who remain. If you are shopping for a new bank, I recommend that you defer joining HSBC/Citizens until the dust has settled.

  Don't Go!!!! No star should be given.My BF opened a checking account in Jun.,but was told something related to overdraft protection, afterwards he was given a credit account application form and let him signed! It was a horrible cheat!!! The branch manager and customer service manger weren't able to remove the credit history. There is no customer service, we keep tracking for 4 months. It also seems nothing happened to the cheating banker ! How a person come to open a checking account and was given credit open form!!! The worst bank ever, no trust any more!

  Worst ever customer service of the asian man in there was disgusting the lady with blonde hair doesnt even speak english enough to have the attitude that she exhibited but asked to copy my check to understand an issue they claimed to be having all day with not being able to cash checks because they cant verify them so the blonde haired lady told me to verify my check stating it could be fake when then check came from their exact bank then claimed she didnt say that just that she cant show me her computer but she is going to show me anyway to prove the check has an error it took the indian lady to come out to explain its a system error and no we would not be copying your check for this error since they are unable to cash it .The asian feminine male was yelling stating they dont tell bank policy to non customers because it is an internal thing that they keep internal for their customers and staff.

  HSBC has horrible customer service. They have wonderful theft protection and all that good stuff but none of those things are helpful if the people helping you resolve those situations are overall completely incompetent. Stay away from HSBC.
