Friendly staff, thorough selection with a competitive price. A true hidden gem for amateur and professional chefs in White Plains. Basically THE place you want to go, when a cookbook or cooking show mentions getting something at a restaurant supply store instead of a Target.

I like it here, staff is helpful. Good choices. Down side : website POORLY setup . Prices are good. Compared to other places. It also depends on what your needs are. It's worth a look into what your shopping for...

I started a small business 5 years ago and that is when I met Teresa and Kevin. They could not have been more helpful in assisting me in the set up of my commercial kitchen. They were knowledgable about the products they sold and made suggestions to help keep costs in line while still having the quality I was looking for. Now 5 years later I am moving to a larger space and Chef City was the first place I called for assistance. Once again they were happy to help. They are always responsive in answering questions, providing advice, and getting me the products I need. I look forward to continuing to work with Chef City!

I had the most wonderful experience today with chef city!!! Patricia was attentive and gracious. I read the previous reviews and can only respond in the following manner. the Golden Rule should always prevail.... Do unto others as you would have done to you. Chef City is well worth a trip to explore!

I am taking the time to write this review, it is a first for me, but the circumstances were so extreme that I felt it important that any small businesses starting up know how I was treated as a small business owner. I am in the process of starting up a retail store that includes a drink bar, requiring a need for kitchen equipment. I found this company based on their positive reviews and reached out. Initially I had a great conversation with the person in charge of commercial orders, but the process took roughly a month to get my original quote from them, given a good deal of phone and email tag. I was patient as I knew they were also a small business with limited resources (according to them). I did have to physically go into the store and wait an hour to speak to someone, as email and phone tag did not work, and their usual staff cannot take commercial orders, in order to get their attention around the quote I needed. After receiving the quote, there were some delays on my end, as to be expected, with my opening, but when I was ready to place an order, I contacted them immediately, only to find they were unavailable. After leaving a message that I needed a quote revision and that I was ready to place my order once this was set, I called back 24 hours later, to experience an incredibly rude response, wherein the owner acted as if I was inconveniencing her because I needed this revised quote, in order to get final specs to my architect ASAP, and also to confirm the equipment I needed could be delivered in advance of my expected opening date. A very important step in opening a business, and a very straightforward and common one that a business who sells kitchen equipment should be able to handle. Instead, their response to this simple request was that they were "tied up for the next two weeks" and they were unable to provide any straightforward or solid answers on what day they could even look at my email, let alone address my needs to get to an order completion. When I pressed about concerns around this, I was essentially treated as if they didn't want my business, which lead to being hung up on. It is concerning that a business could treat a customer this way, and react this way. Perhaps a 5 figure order is too small for them to be concerned, but a professional company, no matter how small an order, does not leave customers hanging, and if catastrophic or personal events occur for the business, which unfortunately it seems it did for this business, there are contingency plans in place, as life does unfortunately happen, and answers at the very least should be provided that do not leave customers in the dark at a critical point in their own process, where they have engaged and were depending on an execution. I also want to note that before I was able to finalize this order, this company called me to say how important it was to get the order in ASAP. I was only trying to follow what they recommended and get them the final information as soon as possible, so that the order could be finalized and placed, given the sense of urgency around timing they created. It's a shame, as I wanted to support this local business, I hung in with them even through they were slow with responses initially, and now am left having to start over with someone else, after being abandoned at the final step, in the last minute.
