Updated, efficient Marriott in the heart of uptown Charlotte. Charlotte Marriott City Center is in a perfect location to visit Uptown Charlotte (I was told they call it Uptown, not Downtown) with shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and access to the Lynx light rail system all within an easy stroll from the front doors of the hotel. The front of hotel features a large covered driveway off the main Uptown street; the driveway is busy during the day and sometimes becomes a little congested. The reception/check-in are a series of stations just off the main doors (no desk to stand in front of) manned by efficient and friendly staff. The lobby is open, bright, and comfortable with plenty of sitting spaces and access to the restaurant, bar, and coffee shop. The elevators are fast. The gym is very, very well appointed with modern work out machines, all types of weight/training equipment, semi-private workout spaces, and plenty of electronics (TVs on walls, TVs at stations, etc.). The rooms are smallish but efficient and updated. The rooms seemed like they were missing some quality touches, an improvement opportunity for the management. I was surprised that I didn’t like the bed linens (I usually love Marriott beds)—the bottom sheet was scratchy, and the comforter was too light, not normal at all for Marriott. The toiletries were only basic. The room was missing a suitcase stand and missing a hair dryer, both of which should be stocked standard. There weren’t really any surprisingly nice touches like you find in many Marriott hotels. The restaurant, Stoke, was great (covered in its own review); I didn’t use the bar or coffee shop, but the coffee shop, Coco and the Director, looked uniquely funky and inviting and was very popular. The room price was a little high; overall, I’d rate Charlotte Marriott City Center as a decent value for fantastic location, stellar reception staff, nice restaurant/bar/coffee shop offering, well-appointed gym, and clean/efficient rooms.

The hotel is updated and beautiful. There was a long check in line however the hotel was sufficiently staff and made checking in a breeze. There were at least 4 staff members assisting with check in. I was really impressed. The room itself was clean and fully stocked with everything you would expect. Located in a great location with tons to do nearby.

Beautiful hotel. You have to Valet your car and you only pay one time which we really liked. If you don't want to valet there are some parking decks close by. The room was nice. The temperature in the room was just not wanting to cooperate. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom wasn't really private if you want privacy. The location of the hotel was great. So much to do in walking distance. We enjoyed our stay!

This was first time in Charlotte and I chose this Marriott based on location. I was not disappointed with a beautiful lobby and reception area. There were many options of food and drink to choose from including a great coffee joint for breakfast and a fun bar in the evening. The rooms were typical modern Marriott with everything you would expect.

Very classy rooms, nice looking and clean. Very disappointed there was no microwave! If I’m paying this much for a hotel I should at least be able to microwave my leftovers. In addition there was no vending machine on my floor just ice. Not to mention NO COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST, you have got to be kidding me. This is very unsatisfactory for a hotel that is suppose to be “high quality”.
