  Nous y sommes restés une nuit. La décoration est vraiment spéciale et l'immeuble vieillissant. Je ne sais pas si sur une longue durée les chambres sont adaptés. Pas d'ascenseur, une climatisation un peu faible et on entend bien la rue, heureusement plutôt calme. Bien situé au cœur de Manhattan. Plusieurs niveaux de chambre, en commençant par celles avec toilettes et douches dans le couloir.

  We booked a private room months ago. Our room had a single glazed window, partially open for air con machine so lots of noise from the street, and the loud music played from bar right under us until 2am. We asked if we could change rooms but were told they were full, and we had been given that room as we had only booked to stay for 1 night - A poor reason given how far in advance we booked. My wife had no sleep at all due to the noise and how cold it was in the room, a paper thin sheet and a small thin throw was certainly not adequate for a chilly night. Even with towels on top it was cold. It was also dirty. The cute artwork we had booked for, doesn’t make up for it. It was the worst place we have stayed in the western world (and that includes some very sketchy places around Europe). Would not recommend.

  Simple but effective!!! Perfect location to have a fun night... several bars, restaurants all walking distance. The bar downstairs have amazing drinks!!! The front desk guys was very friendly and helpful. Have in mind that is a hostel/boutique kinda place, so is not too big. Every floor has two showers, one of them is with the toilet. It is nothing fancy, but I'll definitely stay here next time!!!

  This boutique hotel has do many great qualities. But, know it is not for everyone. The location was in bearable. It was an easy walk to 2 train lines, so helpful for weekend train closures. There were plenty of places to grab food, drinks, and snacks. Being situated next to a small college, the street was clean and safe. The owner and staff of the hotel were friendly. They answered questions easily and helped us feel settled. The stuff to know: It is a walk up, no elevator. The stairs are old and steep. It is an old NYC building, that brings quirks in areas. They are part of a the charm! The shared bathrooms, for many rooms, keep the rooms inexpensive for NYC. That means it is always busy. The decor is eclectic and avant garde. It is not for everyone. We enjoyed it, immensely. But we heard murmurs from others. There are 2 cats, on site. That was a minor issue as we have allergies, but we knew before arrival, so crisis averted!! Overall, the hotel was wonderful. We would stay again, but we will insist on a lower floor if we bring lots of luggage!

  A hidden gem: Carlton arms is brimming with personality and an aesthetic that you can't fake. This place is absolutely covered in art in a way that really makes you feel like you are in the middle of the village (even if you are about 15 blocks north) at the height of it's expressive history. If you need and elevator, room service, shampoo, adequate lighting, or to otherwise be pampered don't stay here. It's not lavish, it's not quite beautiful, but it's a place you really should stay.
