  Great preaching, Great Teaching and friendly people is what you find at this vivacious church located on the corner of M Cecil Mills way on the 16th Street, NW corridor of Washington. The pastor has been voted "Minister of the Year " for 2014. Give them a try, I think you won't be disappointed..

  Canaan Baptist Church has been a part of my life 35 years. It is a church family that cares about one another. My spiritual life has grown over the years. The Christian environment of Canaan serves as an example of what we are trying to become as Christians. My growth in knowledge and understanding of the bible, compassion for others and learning how to become a servant of God and love his people has been a treasure that will remain with me always.

  I have been a member of Canaan Baptist Church for over three years. I am so honor to claim Canaan as my church. Pastor Larry Owens is truly ordained and a man of God. His wisdom, wit, and humble demeanor are just a few characteristics that encourage me to continue to follow this pathway that God has chosen for me, to "GROW" at Canaan Baptist Church. To be able to follow God's Will, worship, serve and trust, while being in an environment of loving members who exude kindness, dedication and love is the epitome of fellowship. This spiritual journey is enhanced with the wisdom ministered every Sunday from Pastor Owens coupled with our outstanding music ministry. I am forever grateful that my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ led me to this church.   I moved back to this area a few of years ago and re-established my Christian relationship with Canaan. Canaan has developed a straightforward and strategic process that moves people through the stages of spiritual growth. The process flows logically and is implemented in each area of the church. Each stage challenges members to move to the next requiring a bigger commitment to discipleship. Canaan is not a perfect church, but its membership’s commitment to serving Christ is unquestionable.   I love the members of Canaan Baptist Church! I am not from the DC area but they have taken me under there wings as family. I enjoy the fellowship and education received during Sunday School and Worship Service. It's a powerful thing to be encouraged to read and learn the Bible for yourself and have a personal relationship with God. The Pastor comes directly from scripture, providing references and even handouts so you can take notes and review the information later. There seems to always be an opportunity for service at Canaan. I believe, Canaan is truly a church on the grow and I hope you will come grow with us.
