  Wont be back. Ever. The staff here does not know how to run a restaurant or treat the musicians they hire with respect. We had reservations for a friends band who was scheduled to play for weeks last weekend. We get there to find out that the person who does the booking at Cafe 21 (who really has NO CLUE obviously) double booked them with another act (a DJ). It was a surprise to the band as well. AND they were NOT told until AFTER they moved all their gear into Cafe 21 AND paid for parking. Pathetic. We even posted on their social media about how excited we are to come to this venue in the weeks leading up AND Cafe 21 posts as well how excited they are for the show. But yet you still double booked this event? Our friends were given the option of only playing for an hour (at HALF the promised pay) or leaving. Since they are professionals, they played as there were many folks there to see them and they were ALL quite disappointed in the venues obvious lack of professionalism to the musicians. We came to see our friends band that was advertised and to spend our money. We had a drink while they played then left. We will not support a venue that does not treat the musicians THEY hired with respect. So they LOST quite a bit of revenue since no one ordered any dinners because of this lack of professionalism on Cafe 21 and the incompetent person who does the booking there. Way to go Cafe 21. You blew it.

  Went first time and enjoyed it. Went second time and they served bad cabbage roll (sour or acidified). Beside being unhealthy, food that has gone bad is a strong indication that: the place doesn't serve freshly made food, doesn't through away remaining food and has no quality control. Although the waiter was clearly apologetic and indicated he informed the chef and the owner, they made no effort to come over and provide some comforting explanation. I would not risk going back and if we lived in San Diego, would have reported the experience to health authorities.

  This place was the bomb! Great and unique food choices as well as beverages. Delectable choices!!! Very chic yet very casual and comfortable at the same time..We will be back!

  One of the best breakfast experiences I've had in a long time. The food is incredible, and the mimosa flight is an awesome idea. We ordered a short rib omelette, probably the best omelette I've ever had. With that being said, it was overshadowed by our other meal, the tiramisu pancakes. I highly recommend them. I couldn't believe how much we enjoyed the pancakes and the whip cream served on the side. 10 out of 10 would recommend. The mimosa flight is an awesome touch to a great place. Although a bit expensive ($21), it was well worth it. Six different seasonal champagne flavors in the flight.

  We have been here twice - both times Saturday night - and it has been amazing ! They have live music until 1030 and unlike most live places, their food is terrific. We have tried cabbage wraps, vegetarian appetizers (everything on their menu) and bread pudding -- and every single item has been a surprise. Whatever flavor, image or sensation you associate with popular dish titles like say bread pudding, be prepared to relinquish those and get surprised by Cafe 21's version of the same ! The portions of starters and appetizers are big - almost as big as a meal. I think the next time we visit, we may get to entrees :D Our server the second time, Mike, was immensely helpful and none of his suggestions turned out wrong. Hands down super recommended place !
