  Good selection of new and used books. Small children's section in the back of the store. There are chairs in the aisles to sit and browse through the books. Dog friendly.

  Memphis should be so proud for still having a old-school book store like Burke's. It's pure pleasure to explore its isles, one by one!

  Quaint little bookstore. Not the largest selection of books overall, but you can still find something you didn't know you need. Homey, with chairs to drag around row to row to either sit and browse or reach a treasure up on the top shelf. Worth a stop in to browse.

  Fantastic stop after lunch, before dinner, or after dinner (they are open late) when you're visiting a Cooper Young eatery. If you're only in Memphis for a short time this small, historic bookstore is well worth your time as the book curation is done tastefully enough to far outweigh whatever it lacks in large scale selection. Staff is incredibly helpful and will order you anything you can't find. This is exactly what a local bookstore should be!

  This specialty book shop is a Memphis treasure. Not only the oldest independent book store in the state, it's also the quaintest. It has the classics, a fine selection of first editions, and a wide array of used books. Owner Corey Mesler is a friend of local writers, especially poets, and is a published poet himself. If you need a book, go here first. Support this local fixture in the Cooper-Young neighborhood.
