I was hesitant to try full scale projections, but BMD has been wonderful. I have only been using my ETC console for a year, but patching the ImagCue into my system was not difficult at all, and Chance was there to help out every step of the way. Everyone at this company, including my account rep Patrick, has been kind and responded immediately to every question. My only drawback was finding a projector that would not break the bank; luckily, I borrowed one from a director friend at another school. I showed my cast the videos Friday, and they were blown away. If you want to have a good and successful experience, follow this advice: 1. Know what you want. 2. Know if what you want is realistically achievable. 3. Start early enough to figure it out. 4. Ask for help. Thank you, BMD, for a wonderful experience from start to finish!

BUYER BEWARE! DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I DID! I am a drama teacher at a public school that has no funding for my drama program, but I have kept it going by doing all of my own fundraising for 26 years. I have had many set painters, and for the past two years our art teacher painted sets for my shows, "Fiddler" and "Cinderella," but she was no longer available to do it, so my choreographer mentioned projected sets as an option. I was very excited and went through the process of ordering projected sets for "The Wizard of Oz." I spent $749.00, which I thought was a great deal since I usually pay an artist $1,000. to paint the sets. All was well until it was time to get a projector. NEVER was I told that the projector would be outrageously expensive. BMD did not offer projectors when I started the process, but I was led to believe that I could get one locally fairly easily. In November they began offering projectors and sent me a proposal. $1,500 - $4,500 a month to rent or $3,000 - $7,000. to purchase!! I scrambled to find something locally and was told that projectors are around $400.00 a day to rent and thousands to buy. I was also told that the $3,000. projector that BMD offered would only project about 8 feet of set on my wall. I showed a professional AV person their website and what I thought I was getting, and he said that those projectors would cost thousands upon thousands of dollars and that I should stick with painted sets. I asked BMD if there was any chance of a partial or full refund since I am unable to afford to use the projected sets, and, of course, they said no since nothing was wrong with the projections. Also, make sure, when ordering, that you want little movies that constantly loop around which, in my opinion, could be really irritating to the audience. I was told that they could offer stationary sets as well. My professional AV person also said that the projected sets are extremely high maintenance and the person running the computer needs to be very skilled in technology. The people I spoke to at BMD were very nice, but I am deeply disappointed in never being told about the cost of the projector. I feel it was a "bait and switch" situation. I made my situation very clear to them, and, in my opinion, they should have warned me about the projector cost. You can bet that I would have done my research and not gone with the projected sets, and that was probably why they never told me. I admit that I was too trusting; I won't make that mistake again! Hopefully, after reading this, I will help you avoid making my mistake. If I had read a review like this, I would not have ordered the sets, but it looks like I am the first to write a review. Unless you're a big professional theater or a school with A LOT of money, stick with painted sets.
