Brezel is quite a gem in C-town's North Market. In fact it is honestly one of a handful of vendors that keep the place a landmark worth visiting. Don't get me wrong, the North Market has a rich tradition, but the North Market could definitely use some quality control as there can be some overlapping ideas there and some vendors that make a product I can describe as just okay. Brezel makes hand rolled Bavarian style pretzels, the doughy kind that is baked until it has a delectable brown patina. These are not the hard pretzels from the salty snack aisles of your local grocery store, these are hand made goodness coming in a variety of flavors. Stop thinking Auntie Anne's or the frozen Super Pretzel variety. You deserve better, and Brezel is the vendor that can help you with this! It appears they rotate/stock a variety of flavors each day with a planned amount so there isn't a lot of waste, which makes sense. For example they may make on any given day, an asiago and cracked pepper, mango habanero, chocolate and sea salt, cheseey jalapeno, and an original all within a couple of hours of each other. They'll make them as a full sized soft pretzel, and if you like to sample everything or have small children, they makes little twists too if variety is what you seek. Just remember that once a flavor is gone, depending on how much time is left in a day, and how well something sold that day, there may not be another round. However this is why you need to try a new flavor, evolve as a person and then come back again later that week. They offer various dips for your pretzels. I believe there are at least a few but I've only ever had the cheese. They also carry craft soft drinks to help wash down all that salty goodness that a pretzel lover seeks. These guys even make a pretzel pizza crust that can be seen in the cooler by the register. It's on the outside so you can peek in and see if any has been recently made. It wakes pizza up in a unique way. If it wasn't on your bucket list, it is now. You can order from them online too. I once bought a half dozen or more jalapeno pretzels and they were just as incredible after they shipped. The staff is made up of some really friendly people who are a joy to stand and chat with if there isn't a long line, and sometimes there is because these Bavarian style pretzels MOVE! There's many more flavors then I touched upon. They basically make pretzels that are savory and pretzels that are sweet. Get one of any idea, or get one of each. Like I said, if they run out of something, they have something equal to it that'll delight you just as much. Brezel has really raised the pretzel game in Ohio. Being that these guys are a modern institution, you see they're influence in some of the Lessner restaurants, and even the vendor that is a bakery beside Brezel in the North Market is making Bavarian style soft pretzels a regular thing you can buy. I still get astounded by how many restaurants locally in central Ohio are putting out their own soft pretzels that are mostly lacking. They forgot the main ingredient -LOVE! Next time you're in the North Market, forget about Jeni's Splendid over priced ice cream. Man or woman up and buy a pretzel from Brezel and buy a beer from Barrel and Bottle. This is the true path to foodie paradise. Brezel pretzels and libations! Don't kid yourself into thinking anything else. Let your taste buds lust! (You have my permission to put that on a t-shirt.)
