  This is one of the few lumber places still in LES which will do precision cuts. Employees works with you on specifics, so this is good for artists and galleries in the area. They have honest prices too, and the time they spend made me feel like it's money well spent. The lumber isn't high quality, and the knowledge isn't more than you could get spending an hour online, but the turnaround and help both with a project and reference of other good stores in LES is lovely.

  Bowery Home Supplies is as good as your going to get in downtown Manhattan these days which is something, though still sad. The lumber is okay, though the quality and variety are limited. Note, what they have is still much better than the scrap wood Home Depot sells as lumber. dmauro is mistaken. They are open and the phone number works.

  Bowery has good quality lumber at competitive prices. They are helpful and generally knowledgeable. The selection isn't huge, but if you're in the village they can usually get your order to you within an hour or two. Talk to Kim.
