For a stroke patient their website says, "After the initial treatment, patients are monitored around the clock for neurological changes." My father is currently still in the ER after being diagnosed with a stroke 8 hours ago. No neurological monitoring AT ALL! No one has any answers. This place is a joke. The only time anyone checks blood pressure is when I go up to the nurses station to ask for an update. This is one of the most stressful times for our family and this should not be anyone's experience.

IF YOU CAN AVOID IT DO NOT CONE HERE! I was taken to Southside Hospital yesterday. I had an attack from a genetic disorder that causes acute pain in the abdomen. Enough so that it makes me cry out. I had gone to the doctor just to check on an infection, however because even most medical people are unfamiliar with this condition they panicked and called an ambulance. I told them it would pass if they let me rest. I was taken to the hospital. I was still groaning when they brought me through the door. I was very briefly triaged and then taken to one of the emergency room beds. At that point the ambulance drivers dropped me off and put a blanket over me. I had said to them please let someone know that I had an overly full bladder that caused the pain to worsen. However, after the ambulance drivers put a blanket over me and left, I was completely ignored. My bladder was getting worse, and I lay in a ball in the corner of my bed with a blanket thrown on me. No one in the whole emergency room came to see why there was a person under a blanket in the corner curled up in a ball and moaning. Finally the pain eased enough so that I was able to get to the edge of my bed and try to make it to the bathroom. Someone, not a nurse, but a volunteer perhaps, saw me and came over quickly with a wheelchair to take me over. She told me to ring when done. I did so, and no one came. I waited, letting the pain recede until I was able to use my cane to walk out. (I had to wonder at the fact that no one even came to use the bathroom during that time) when I got to the hallway I found in my bed has been moved out by the desk. At this point no one had even taken my blood pressure my temperature or spoken to me except the woman with the wheel chair. This is where things get really weird. As I sat there still no one speaking to me, I turn to a man behind a desk and said “Can you tell me where the front door is?” I wanted to know in case my daughter had to come if I was going to be stuck there. The man behind the desk heard me and kept shaking his head no and saying “I don’t know why there’s noise on my computer” I asked three times. This had now gotten so surreal that I had no idea what to do. I was feeling much better but as no one had checked me in there was no one to check me out. Finally I simply got up and begin to walk out when someone, came rushing up to ask me what I was doing. I said to her that I had not been seen to at all, and I was feeling better and I was leaving. Her attitude was incredibly obnoxious considering the circumstance. She said “ Why don’t you wait for a doctor to check you out?” I asked if the doctor was actually coming and she turned and walked away. I continued on my way out and was stopped by another person who asked much more politely where I was going. I said to her “I’m feeling better No one has checked on me since I arrived, and you all are not equipped at this hospital to treat the condition I have because no one is familiar with it“. I said this very gently and called a cab. After I got home I received a phone call from one of the offices asking for my insurance information, I asked why she needed it since I was not treated in the emergency room. She said she would talk to her supervisor and they would call me back. They never did. Then today I received a call from billing. I was told the record said I refused care. No, actually, I didn’t get any.

Easy to see right off of Main Street servicing Bayshore and the adjoining areas of Suffolk County. Close to the Sagtikos Parkway. Plenty of parking and a wheel chair accessible entrance. Valet parking is available. Clean facilities. Nice Staff. Highly recommended for same day surgery. We will definitely be going back.

The hospital staff took such amazing care of me, and I am so thankful for their knowledge and abilities. I had a medical emergency on a Thursday evening and was immediately admitted to Emergency Room in I think critical care unit and then into hospital ICU for two days. Their quick response resulted in my miraculous full recovery. My experience was outstanding. The caring Doctors, Nurses, PA, aides and staff were all wonderful. I felt extremely well taken care of and the new ICU wing is absolutely beautiful. Special KUDOS to Dorin in ER and Nurse Brian in ICU for your amazing care and abilities making me feel so safe and secure.

If I could give NEGATIVE 5 stars I would!! If you have nothing to do and you want to spend a thousand dollars to be transferred around the hospital for 9 hours. Then this is the hospital for you. A disgrace. Maybe this is what Americans are use to?!? I am Canadian and have been to Emergency room a number of times and never spent more than two hours. The entire American process was inefficient and time consuming and quite frankly I felt like I was in a third world country that had just opened it’s first hospital and was trying to work out the kinks. Next time I have an Emergency I will be buying a ticket to Canada going to Emergency there And coming home. How insane is it that I would see a doctor sooner by doing that and save money at the same time!!!
