  The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and are accommodating to your circumstances. I have been to this place for years and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

  I had a complicated return this year and didn't feel comfortable handling it myself. From the very beginning, H&R Block proved to me that they weren't comfortable handling it either, and I should have heeded the signs. First, their scheduling system put me in a time slot that wasn't available. When I showed up for my rescheduled appointment, I waited a half hour to be seen. I had to discuss issues of double taxation and out of state income with my preparer because I did not feel confident that he would handle it in the best way -- I needed to be reassured/educated. Instead I was explaining/educating. I was told after my Friday appointment that my paperwork would be ready by Tuesday. Two weeks later, after several unreturned emails, I had to pester my way into an appointment the day before taxes were due to the IRS. On top of paying a little more than I anticipated, apparently my tax return was rejected because of their "new system" and they didn't realize it. However...whenever they DID figure it out, they FAILED TO TELL ME. They knew that I should be expecting a letter with fees from the IRS, so why wouldn't they own up to their mistake before I found out directly from the source? This, in my opinion, is the epitome of unprofessional for a tax accountant. When I called about the charges -- because a good accountant is supposed to represent you when there are problems with their work -- I had to resend docs twice, hound the office with several emails and phone calls, and was finally told that it was their fault (no apology, of course) and that I needed to pay the fees and they would reimburse me. So instead of dealing with the IRS for me, they are trying to get me to accept late payments that aren't my fault. Now I will call the IRS myself to deal with it, because I am apparently a better tax professional than the people I paid over $400 to have my back. Save your time and frustration. Find an independent accountant. They have more/better experience and will be much more grateful for your business. I regret veering from that philosophy in the first place.
