  Love soul food! I’m from New Orleans & my coworker is from Brooklyn we wanted soul food only. We found a good one tooo. We truly enjoyed everything & wanted more to take back to Non Soul-food Kearney, NE. Both of us were starving since moving/working in Kearney. We will be back next Fri & Sat for everything. We will order more this time to take back with us. Love the food here!! Keep it going for Momma!!

  Have not been to BIG MAMA'S since the old site but managed to drop in this time to the new location in the astounding HIGHLANDER complex, an innovative community hub for this growing Omaha neighbourhood. Sadly Ms Barron had left us in 2018 but I was priviledged to briefly meet and chat with her daughter, Gladys Harrison, who has brought her mother's idea of continued community service to fruition. I shall plan my next trip for (HOPEFULLY) better weather and more time to devour some more fried chicken and the always heavenly SWEET POTATO PIE ICE CREAM!!!

  Attempted to order at 630 (closes at 7). Not able to order famous fried chicken or cornbread. All out of both. Paid 18 bucks for the smallest 8 chicken wings I’ve ever had. Was really hoping for this to be a good dining experience. Really disappointed. Also, came with side and cornbread. But they were all out of cornbread, and not offered a side in replace of missing cornbread and still paid full price.

  Dear Gladys and Big Mama's Staff, it is with much Love and Gratitude that I submit this review for excellent food that was catered for our daughters 40th birthday celebration. Everyone enjoyed EVERYTHING immensely! Catfish, grilled chicken and turkey sliders, okra, lasagna blossoms, Chicken wings and vegetable tray. We truly appreciate the Love and culinary care that went into the preparation as well as the friendly service in helping us load to bring home. Definitely not our first affair with you and definitely not our last! We look forward to using you for all of our future milestone events! Much Love. Merritt

  A lot of places like this don't hold up to the hype. I'm glad to say this place did a good job of showing why it's well regarded in this area. The rice and beans and the macaroni and cheese were definitely tasty and the fried chicken and catfish was great as well. The menu seemed a little bit limited but in the grand scheme of things the menu has everything a restaurant like this needs. I feel the food was slightly pricey but it wasn't terrible. Finally the lemonade was a good addition to the meal.
