This hotel's exterior decor is stereotypical and gaudy in comparison to other Best Western Plus hotels β€” but don't let this turn you away from what is otherwise a great hotel experience. We spent the night in a two-queen-bed room that felt spacious for its capacity, with a cozy and clean modern aesthetic. The servicepeople impressed us, from the courteous maid and parking lot valet driver, to the breakfast room manager (thanks Anna!) who was especially helpful. This hotel is an easy recommendation for anyone wanting to visit Chinatown and the surrounding LA area.

We stayed here for 2 nights last min, after being on the road for days. Booked online and still managed to get $80 per night with free breakfast. This hotel was so nice and quirky! Situated right in the heart of China town this little gem was a treat! It wasn't in the best updated condition but it deffinately has been looked after over the years. The room was a lovely surprise, clean, modern and the bed was lovely and comfortable! The soap though, let me tell You! Your hands smell like papaya for hours and the shower is probably the best I have had in a hotel yet! Would deffinately stay here again!!

So this hotel has pros and cons. Pros: the location is unbeatable if you're doing anything in Chinatown, such as attending the annual Chinese New Year parade. We had free reserved seats at the parade under an awning and right next to the Grandstand provided by the hotel which was awesome. The decor is spot on, and there's a fun courtyard with Chinese shops inside the hotel. There's an associated car park below the hotel, but you pay for it separately. The rates are reasonable, and the attendant was very watchful and helpful. I think they even have a valet option. The employees are all affable and helpful, they even had complimentary cute activity bags for our children. The hotel is quite clean, to the point that we had a new TV remote for our particular stay. We also got a room with a balcony which was fun for no upcharge over our original room. The price is competitive, sort of high-budget hotel range. We joined the rewards club for free to get a cheaper rate. Cons: The rooms are not well insulated against sound. We could hear every move the other guests were making above us, and many sounds from outside. In the morning the sounds of doors closing as guests left outside was loud enough that it woke our baby repeatedly despite our white noise machine that we brought from home. Be specific when reserving your room. We booked a room with two beds, but they turned out to be full size beds instead of queens. The beds themselves were also very firm. The outside door to the balcony was quite loose in its frame, like a shop door, and had kind of a sketchy lock. There was no bathtub in our room, only a stand up shower. So overall we had a pretty good stay in this hotel, but we didn't sleep super well because of the noise disturbing our kids and the size/firmness of the beds.

Dragon Gate Inn was one of the more unique hotel designs I've been to. Embedded inside a shopping plaza in the heart of LA Chinatown, it was like entering a whole different world. The room I got was quite spacious for the price. The interior must have been renovated not too long ago as everything looks very clean and modern. Not what you'd expect given how it looks from the outside.

it's a nice place to stay for a night or 2. I love the hospitality and service. Thanks Ana from the breakfast dining you made our morning bright... gluten free is available upon requests. Additional $15 overnight parking if you like to park inside down the basement
