We were only there for one night. Rooms were clean and roomy. It could of use a little more cleaning in the kitchen part. But other than that, it was good!! Jose at check in was very nice, polite and helpful. The price was reasonable for the room. We only needed one night, we were here for a softball tournament so we got to the room late and left early, so didn’t get to enjoy much of the room Amenities. I would definitely stay there again!!!

I started out leaving a very negative review because of a power outage and no follow up and poor customer service from the night auditor - but I must say, the level of customer service here is actually truly superb. I've had a very concerned call from the Manageress Gilda who was amazing at putting things right so I'm in a better frame of mind to leave a more helpful review for people. The hotel here is in a fairly decent location but the rooms and staff truly make up for any shortcomings in the neighborhood. My room was impeccable, if a little dated (I share others' views on this - but of course we don't have to carry the massive expensive of updating rooms so it's really a tiny complaint.) The cleanliness of my room was superb - it's the first hotel I have stayed in down in SD where I genuinely was not afraid to take off my shoes and walk barefoot. Special shout out to Karen on reception who is a true asset to the company. She was an absolute sweetheart despite her system going down and her being unable to process any of my cards - but she handled it like a true professional (with a little help from her supervisor) and did not stop smiling the whole time. Will definitely stay again - not just because the hotel is great - but because the staff and the after sales care are out of this world.

This hotel is my favorite in the San Diego area. It's staff is helpful and friendly, and the grounds and rooms are well cared for. Amenities are plentiful and the rates competitive. This was our second stay here, and we will be back!

Best Western Lamplighter is a very good value. The rooms are up to date, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. The front office personnel are courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. It's also a plus that it is close to SDSU. The breakfast is okay overall with a variety of items available. Parking in the hotel lot can be tough if the hotel is filled to capacity and you come in late. And from a past stay, not all the rooms have both a microwave and refrigerator which was an issue. Those are minor issues and will definitely stay there whenever I am in the San Diego area.

The room was clean and modern. The beds very comfortable. extra blanket and pillow in closet if needed. Our room had no refrigerator or microwave but upon request, our second room had those details. There was bar soap at sink, lotion, and moist facial towelette in package. The shower/tub had shampoo and body soap dispensers on wall. There's a hairdryer and iron/ironing board. The shower worked well. The shower/tub, sink and toilet were very clean. There were plenty of bath linens. Area surrounding the hotel was good. There is a Rite Aid store directly across the street and a Ralphs grocery store on the same side of the street a little farther away. We were there on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The clientele was quiet travelers. The breakfast wasn't spectacular, just okay. Waffles, pastries, toast, varieties of bagels etc. with cream cheese and butter, juice, cold cereal, oatmeal w/ toppings, cold boiled eggs, yogurt, oranges and apples, coffee and tea. That is what I remember. Coffee was good.
