A lot better Than what it once was. The staff doctors and waiting rooms are were very nice. Much much better than what it used to be. I’m aware all of the crises units in Chula Vista come here, so it feels good knowing there are some fundamental changes that were made to keep the facility safe, to anyone who really needs a refill on their medicine or psychological stabilization .

I just visited the CSU unit yesterday because I was having a rough patch and couldn't find a psychiatrist to help me which made my condition much worse. I was referred to CSU unit by a practitioner. All the staff was extremely gentle and helpful, they checked in on me a few times during my wait time and asked if I needed anything. They actually brought me dinner which was such a lovely surprise. It was a very rough few days for me and it felt so good that some actually wanted to help and take care of me.

My loved one experienced distasteful food, Cash stolen by staff and Psychiatrist Kugel rude and cold. (see description) My loved one spent 3 days at Bayview. The food they serve was very distasteful. The picture below shows a small patty that didn't even decompose after a week. She pretty much just ate jello. When she met with Dr. Kugel, he was rude when he gave my loved one directions "wake up" "sit up straight," "take off your mask!" Obviously I am biased but my loved one is a tender young person who happened to experience SI and to be treated in this regard as if she were a prisioner? I thought hospitals were places where people got stabilized not traumatized. Mr Kugel, can't you give patients the benefit of the doubt and ask why they seem unengaged? My loved one was scared as heck to see all those people with psychotic symptoms and be in that place. I beg you treat your empathy fatigue because I worked in the mental health system and what good is it to be in the profession where we help and love people if we aren't able to do it? Also, Mr. Kugel take care of details such as a woman passing by in a bikini in the background of the video call. Also, there is an active complaint we placed with Family Jewish Services due to my loved one having $100 in cash disappear in her belongings. One of the nurses said "ugh they did it again?" as if her coworkers were recurrent theft offenders. Only reason why I put two stars was because when we advocated for my loved one to be released to us, the African American nurse on staff was so understanding and compassionate. Her case manager was also communicative with us. Tip coming from a former case manager: Request for your loved one to be taken to Aurora or Sharp Grossmont hospital when PERT takes them or take them there yourself if they are engaged. Paradise Valley Hospital will just funnel them to this unprofessional place.

Went to their outpatient today for help for my son. The doctor of that day, don’t remember her name, but was a Asian female. She was very rigid with my son. He tried joking which myself and the caseworker acknowledged and laughed a little. This doctor just scowled. She was incredibly condescending and impatient with my son. She didn’t seem to care for him and actually put him down. I felt pressure to get her to care about my son so that she would help us. I told her that my son had two semesters of college under his belt. In a hateful tone she said, one year of college, is that all?!” Who says that to a patient with developmental and mental illness? She is not fit to deal with developmental or mentally ill people. She is prejudice, judgmental, and unprofessional. I can imagine the horrid mistreatment/bullying she dishes out to the poor souls who have to deal with her on their own. She needs to develop compassion and accept that There are reasons why many of our developmental and/or mentally ill people don’t get their college degrees in the traditional timeframes as those who don’t suffer with developmental and/or mental illnesses. It was a disturbing experience and complete waste of time. We were there over 3 hours. The rest of the staff were respectful and kind and lovely towards myself and my son. It would be a disservice to our community to keep that doctor on board at Bayview.

I had to get some help for my son who was going through a rough patch and decided to visit Bayview because it is near our house. The staff were very pleasant, and went out of their way to help my son feel comfortable and at ease. Sylvia was a sweetheart as were all of the other nurses on the night of 1/28/22, and I got a chance to video conference with Dr. Ravi who was very caring and professional. My son was only there for a few hours mind you, from 11:45pm-3:30am, but everything was fine, the conference room was clean, and they went above and beyond to help.
