Wonderland is real. This place was amazing. My friend and I took a tour whilst sipping on prosecco (Courtesy of Drexel University Alumni Board). The depth of this property is mesmerizing. The history, especially the black history, was surprising. The tour guide gave details with such charisma, google or a book would never do this garden justice. This public space is a must see. [Please be mindful and spray lots of bug spray... that was my only regret]

Bartram's Garden is a marvelous day trip, especially in the Spring or the Fall. The now-native plant life were introduced by the Bartram Family, colonial Philadelphia's resident botanists, who greatly changed the face of American botany and the natural sciences of the new world. The garden itself is multiple acres, consisting of community gardens, flower beds, tree-lined avenues of plants, including a Ginkgo from the 18th century, herb and exotic plant gardens, a pond, an 18th century farm house and barn, acres of fields, a shade-filled boardwalk, and paths along the Schuylkill River and views of Center City. There is an admission fee, and the garden is run on mostly volunteer work. It is accessible by Septa, and parking is provided and free. Is certainly worth going to, but its size (only 9 acres) and lack of general activities besides walking and viewing, may diminish some of the excitement.

This is a wonderful historic gardens, which doubles as Community farm and teaching center. Walking through the old botanical garden gives the mind time to rest and contemplate. They have the biggest Ginko tree I have ever seen. Certainly worth a look!

not a traditional botanical garden... basically a giant farm/ plot of land that you can walk around. Bertram is apparently someone who knew Benjamin Franklin. Nice for a walk or Pokemon hunting though. got a few cute pictures. can see the philly skyline from here. recommend if you're in the area and haven't been. don't recommend for an out of state trip. entry is free.
