The Best French toast!! Staff was so friendly and even played with our little one while we ate! We came back the next morning because we had such a good time! Highly recommend this place!! I will be eating here every time I’m in the city

Very pleasant and unassuming ambiance. We were there for a very tasty vegetarian breakfast that we enjoyed sharing. Excellent attentive wait staff.

My sister had run the NYC Marathon earlier in the day, and we hoped we might find a restaurant open late on Sunday night where she could eat something more substantial than pizza. It did not seem promising. Without much foreknowledge, we rolled into Barley & Grain with our fingers crossed for food that would hit the spot. My jaw first dropped when we encountered three-time Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale at the bar. Then I was even more excited by the wonderful food and generous service. This was more than just a lucky strike. I'd come back here again and again. Shout out to Eli for going out of his way to make us comfortable and to leave us with great memories of a fantastic dining experience. The mushroom soup, potato lollipops, rosemary french fries, and delectable cocktails are not to be missed. Thank you, B&G, for capping off an unforgettable day perfectly!

Terrible service. Table of 9 around 10 PM on a Saturday. The place was about 2/3 full. I ordered a draft beer with dinner. My drink didn't come out with the others, so I asked about it. Then a few dinner orders came out (not that quickly), but no beer. Then a round of water, no beer or explanation. Finally, the draft arrived. Most of the dinner orders (burgers) took another half hour. The ones with food waited, but we finally ate and were done before the other food came out. To make up for it, they offered cheap vodka shots and a couple of desserts which no one wanted.
