Had the streuselkuchen and a small iced chai -- both wonderful. Service was okay, though a little standoffish. Got the feeling I was being a nuisance by placing an order. Regardless, the environment and food was great, and I would come back for those.

I love this place. I end up here every time I go to DC. The last time I was here I sat and read for ages and it was so lovely. The people watching is also excellent. They have a butterkuchen that is scrumdillyumptious. Good coffee, obviously. I like their hot chocolate. Yum yum yum, I can't wait to go back.

While the bakers seem to know what they're doing, the baristas do not. Hot espresso is pulled directly into disposable plastic cold cups here-- not only do their iced espresso drinks taste of acrid plastic, it's a nearly sure sign the rest of their coffee business is similarly not up to par. As a semi-moved-on barista, it has always truly baffled me that places do this. A clear plastic cup is obviously not made to hold hot liquids! Think of the chemicals!

I randomly found this place and I'm so glad that I did! I frequent this place at least 3 times a week. I'm addicted to the ButterKuchen (German Butter Cake) that is made here. What I love about Bakers & Baristas is that the pastries, cakes and sandwiches are made from scratch and they are GOOD! I can't attest to the coffee here because I haven't had any as of yet however, by the line I see in here often, I would assume it is good.

Very cute. Serves Vigilante beans, which is a nice perk. My coffee was solid, and my friends Americano was on point also. Super kind staff, cozy atmosphere. The only awkward thing is that the lids for the cups are on the opposite side of the coffee bar from where they give you drinks, so be careful walking around the line of people with your open coffee!
