    Arrived to pick up my prepaid car on time. Line was about 50-60 people deep. Only 2 employees at the service counter...waited easily over an hour which was longer than my entire flight to Boston in the first place . Finally got to the front and was told there would be an additional wait for the car we had already reserved and paid for, unless we wanted a pick up truck, because there was currently no standard cars available. Absolutely ridiculous and horribly inefficient. I will never rent with Avis again.

    I would like to say that I am an Avis Preferred Plus customer and have rented Avis cars in most major cities in the US. Even prior to using Avis exclusively, I have never had such an outrageous experience. I was running behind when returning my car so I didn't refuel. I received a receipt at return detailing all the charges and it accurately reflected this. I used 1.2 gal of fuel and I was charged for that fuel. All the charges were correct. A few days later, I find a different receipt on their website where it says I was charged for the entire tank of gas (not just the fuel I used). How can I be presented a receipt with fully detailed charges that accurately reflected my rental and then be charged something completely different a few days later? If the policy is to charge for the full tank of gas , then the people checking cars in and handing out receipts should know and do this rather than to give out false receipts only later to hit the customers up for more. I called twice about this and both times it took about 30 minutes just to get them to understand that I am not disputing the fact that I did not return the car full of fuel. I finally got the 2nd person to understand my issue and now that I have to email my receipt in, I am getting a 3rd person who does not understand my issue (this time via email). So I am back at square one. While I do take issue for charging customers for gas they did not use, my only issue here is that I was given 2 receipts when the second receipt was only provided after someone in the office realized the mistake. I actually do not even know how this can be legal.

    No lines... walked up to the car I selected in the App... hit start... was on the road in 10 seconds... return was just as easy... got my recipes before I had my bags out of the car... friendly staff.

    Currently in line and that line is full!! 3 rows of people here. And 2 reps just got up and left for the day. I understand your shift is over but be a team player and stay and help your crew. They should be ashamed.

    So before we ca,e on the trip I saw the rating for Avis and thought to myself how can this be. A reputable rental car agency with this low of reviews, really. I already had my reservation so it was too late for me to make a change. Well the reviews are all true.the lines were extremely long. Even as a preferred member I had to wait in line to visit the counterforce about 15 minutes, uncool. The car that we were provided could not have been cleaned before we got it. There was dirty tissues in the door pocket and the front window had smeared handprints all over it. The car was a Jeep Compass with over 32,000 miles on it and was absolutely the worst thing to drive. We made it to Portland, Maine where I went directly to the airport and traded it for a different car. Boston was a nightmare, for the rest of this story visit the Portland Maine Avis site they were completely different.
