Came for a meeting. Went for walk on the grounds before it began. Was questioned about my presence there. Outsiders not welcome.

Went here for our marriage prep class. It was a good space for that purpose. I'm not sure about any other offerings.

Its sad but there isn't much interest in who the next bishop will be in Arlington, VA because of all the hurt and polarization that has driven so many people away. Ministers tell me that Loverde 's right wing Repubican rigidity on all issues including his treatment of gays and lesbian Catholics drove many people to their churches.. Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist, etc. Loverde loved to issue nasty and mean spirited press releases from his office about gays and lesbians all the time. He hates this group of Catholics who have supported Catholic Charities and other good causes. One Jesuit priest told me he is the most polarizing bishop in the United States. I believe it.

I am inspired by the simplicity and empowering style of humble leadership of Francis, I must say I am extremely disappointed by the authoritarian exclusive rule in our Diocese of Arlington. Why must our Arlington bishop exclude us the laity from the Synod feedback that he was required to do ? Orthodoxy is a word that is thrown around alot by our bishop and the Chancery Staff at the Arlington Diocese... whenever you talk to them. Guess what? That is a code word for Hierarchical and Clerical control and power. Vatican II does not exist here. Laity have no input at all. That is a throw back to the 1950's church of Pius XII. Clericalism lives! Pope Francis personally condemned it but this Arlington diocese never got his memo or rejects it openly. Clericalism is the policy and procedure in Arlington. The laity have NO voice and NO vote on anything. Its clericalism that rules the day. We need to insist that the next Arlington bishop clean house at the Chancery and dump the Loyalty Oaths to the Ring and to the Throne. We need a new beginning. We are praying to Mary and her Son for a Servant bishop who visits with the poor and marginated. Try to find Paul Loverde visiting with the poor in their homes. We can't continue with business as usual for another 20 years. The next bishop needs to haul the Loyalty Oaths to Loverde's Ring and throne to the Lorton Dump.

I too want to know why Archbishop Wuerl hid under the bed and did not defend our nuns!! Furthermore this Fortnight for Freedom campaign is a campaign to get Obama out by drumming up Catholic resentment for Obama. NOT one word from the bishops during the senseless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not one word from them when the dead came home and more than 50,000 wounded in mind and body. The Catholic Church has lost credibility and relevance because it picks and chooses it's "life issues". If its the birth control pill "all hands on deck". When a GOP President is in the White House,,, not a peep from any of them. We Catholics see the hypocrisy in all of it and say "do you think we are a bunch of stupid people who just pay, pray and obey?" Vatican II has been abrogated top to bottom by this group of bishops appointed in the past 20 years. They have lost the spirit of Vatican II and have no backbone. Where is Joe Bernadin when we need him? What a shame!
