  Terrible place, Eliana Couture or Dresses by Eliana...whatever name she changes it to this week. Do not shop here. Owner is a liar, and will not get your dress in on time. Will refuse to refund you when she delays a dress for months and when it comes in it is the wrong dress. I would give this less than one stars if I could.

  Eliana Couture - formerly known as Alta Moda. My cousins... My aunt... My godmother... Our bridesmaids and my own mother all in tears the day of our wedding. 20+ dresses were promised ready weeks before the wedding and Wilmene had the nerve to show up the day of to try to "finish" these dresses. Everyone's dress was falling apart. Sleeves weren't sewn in. Slits weren't cut... Absolutely pathetic. Lies after lies. Failed deadline after failed deadline... All this business is good for is to cause anxiety and stress. Not only is this person a fraud - she's a terrible business owner. After a while you start to feel sorry for her but then you remember seeing you're entire family in tears the day of your wedding (not happy ones) and that sympathy quickly vanishes... Stay away. Do yourself a favor. The Knot reviews are truer than you think... The new name doesn't fool anyone.

  My experience with Alta Moda located at 2300 Merrick Road, Merrick, New York, started out very very pleasant. I found just what I was looking for. I chose a $1500 dress as the mother of the groom. I was told alterations were included for the work I wanted done. All fine. My decision to choose the dress and her shop came on February 15, 2017. The owner Wilmena "suggested" we put a July wedding date down instead of the real date of September 30, 2017. I was ok with this. At the time I was not aware she was the owner. The call about the arrival of my dress did not come until nearly the end of June. Now you say not a problem but remember she chose to put July wedding. So if you require at least 6 weeks alterations you have now missed the July deadline. I called no one called me back I emailed no response. Finally on July 20 I had an appointment for a fitting. From that date till today, on pick up which is now 12 days before the wedding I have my dress. This was a total of 10 fittings. Each week I would go back and everything that was pinned from the week before was undone and then repinned and then again left undone. Then about 3-4 weeks ago she changed the name in her shop to Couture Eleanor. She stated bad press from the previous owner has harmed her business. I don't believe it. Needles to say I started to have some anxiety over this decision to do business with her. She herself is lovely however not very good business sense. The reviews from the previous owner shows 5 star reviews and one year ago shows one star. Her store is messy never vacuumed, she does not write anything down until your walking out the door then forgets everything you talked about so next week it is not done. The dresses from the previous umteen customers were all still left out in the dressing rooms. Always was having you change while she cleaned up. I had to go back to her shop 10 separate "fittings". This was ridiculous. I have never ever heard of a customer having to go back that many times. You almost feel you can't complain because she still has your dress and a bulk of your money. What do you do? You take it. I tried leaning on her to get it that this wasn't acceptable but just made excuses, one time even hanging up on me after calling her back after she canceled an appointment on me as I was in her parking lot arriving for my appointment. I finally have my dress but as I'm looking at it there are so many things wrong I can't believe it. They are subtle things but wrong none the less. There is no website for her new store name, but buyer beware be very aware. COUTURE ELEANA IS THE SAME DRESS SHOP AS ALTA MODA. I have another child getting married in another year and I know I won't be going there.

  After waiting 6 months for my daughter's maid of honor dress to come in (with no way to track it?) it finally arrived in the wrong color leaving her to scramble to look for a new dress less than one month before the wedding. Now I'm hoping that Alta moda is an upstanding business as we were told. Over $500 deposit was left on this gown at end of February. It's been a week and she's still waiting for money to be refunded into her account. After being in such a bind and now having to pay for a rush order on new dress in another store, I would think Alta moda would do the right thing immediately , since they had my daughter's money for over 6 months and we never saw the dress until last week. If it had been the right color ( we brought swatches over and confirmed color several times), it would've turned out fine. This was huge mistake on their part and we need to pay for the other dress!! I don't understand why a refund would take this long and we can't get transaction # or receipt ! I hope this is read and resolved quickly as I can't get in touch with anyone in store. I'd hate to take legal action. We were lucky to get another dress. Just need the refund and there will be no hard feelings.
