My wife and I had a fantastic experience at Al’s Place! We knocked on the door outside of Stanley's under the green light. After about 20 seconds, Big Lou looked through the peephole and warmly greeted us after we told him we were looking for furniture. We climbed the steep stairway to be greeted by the Maitre d’ who promptly seated us-- even though we were a bit early for our reservation. She also took our coats and hats to be stored during our meal and gave us a claim ticket. ‘Fish’ was our waiter and promptly welcomed us and helped us navigate the drinks and menu items. We splurged and tried a drink from the Captain’s List and one from their regular cocktail list-both were excellent. When you order from the Captain’s list, they bring a cart our and make the drink there, explaining the history, and the process of creating it which was a lot of fun. The food itself was fantastic and Fish checked in on us frequently to make sure all was good. You do pay more than your standard restaurant or bar, but the experience is worth it! Towards the end of our meal, Mia, the resident singer, took to the small stage and sang 1920’s tunes and also serenaded patrons throughout the restaurant as we moved to desert. The music and smoke-filled room certainly takes you back in time. We went on a Friday evening, and after about 8:00, it was quite busy. I would suggest having reservations if you want your evening on some sort of timetable. I also want to echo what other reviewers have stated and what Al’s Place encourages as well: take the time to dress-up in some nice 1920’s-style attire for the full experience. We dressed up in 1920’s style and it made our date night more fun and special plus the staff seemed to appreciate the effort as well. We will definitely be returning and can’t wait to do it again!

The most authentic speakeasy (Uh, I mean furniture shop) I've been to. Highly recommend the drinks and apps. Main course meals are, meh right now but I'm told they're looking to revisit the menu.

Our small company had our holiday party at the bar. It was really fun. The bar tenders were accommodating with taking photos, and the drinks were superb. The apps were great but we didn't do dining so I can't say much more about the food or the dining seating. I could see this place being nice for a couple's night out.

I absolutely ADORE this illicit little gem tucked away on top of Stanley's in NE! You'd never know it's there unless someone tells you. The wait staff all act (literally, they are actors) as though you walked right into the 1920's prohibition. Everything feels like a secret, which is so fun! From the dim lighting of the chandeliers to the cozy booth in the corner ("Al Capone's booth") gives it an intimate - old gangster feel. We dressed up in flapper dresses for fun and fit right in. The menu and drinks were impressive! LOVE LOVE LOVE this little speakeasy...

Worth your time I went with 3 friends last night. We had a lot of fun. The prices are reasonable and the space was great. They haven't been open long and they have some kinks to work out but it's going to be great once it finds its pace! Either go for "Cocktail Hour" aka happy hour 5pm-7pm Thur-Sun or around 8:30 pm on Friday or Saturday for live music.
