I love the market place. It's fun with less croud and it's quite place to sit and enjoy the waters.

My family and I went to Gordon Bierch late one evening. The service was excellent. The food was good. The entertainment was pretty good if you like 80's music. My burger had bun left after I finished the meat. But that is not why I enjoy Gordon's. I reacquainted myself with an old friend. The Maartzen lager is worth going there by itself. I need to remember that.

A very interesting historic landing site for thousands of ocean liners and large commercial passenger ships for many years. I have exciting, though a bit vague, memories myself of landings & departures as a young boy on the way to and from Japan years ago when my father was an officer in the U.S. Navy ... spotting and then waving goodbye to friends on the pier as the ship (U.S. President lines of yesteryear) slowly backed out of the slip w/ thousands of colorful streamers connecting the ship to the crowd below and confetti fluttering everywhere! Its a great place to walk around and read about the history. Make sure you climb the Aloha clock Tower (Back to the Future, lol). The pier is still in use including for harbor tour ships. The buildings on the pier now house a modern private college.

This is now the location of Hawaii Pacific University. Not only is it a great school, but it's a popular venue for big events. Several shops on sight for your eating pleasure and even a Barnes N Noble focusing on college items. Sitting on the pier, it is perfect for your event. I was there attending a major custom car show and there was also a huge birthday party for a one year old (local custom). Will be attending a New Year's Eve event that could have as many as 7000 attending. Met team from university that handles special events. Great people to work with.
